Irene Strychalski

Thrifty wants to recognize new talent and promote these new artists and give artists a place to share their ideas behind their art, and showcase the variety of mediums they use. Contact us if you would like to contribute to this project.

Irene was born in Hsinchu, Taiwan, in 1989. She spent her childhood between Taiwan and New York City. She grew up with a love for manga, movies, and the films of Mayao Miyazaki; she has been drawing comic for as long as she could remember. She first opened PhotoImpact at age 13, taught herself to draw with a mouse, and has not stopped since.

She draws for fun and energy. She currently livs in Georgia and studies Animation; she aspires for a career as a concept artist and is working on her own comic series. She enjoys travelling, is fluent in Mandarin and English, and hopes to learn more languages. She also loves her coffee, New York, music and her Wacom tablet.

Irene works for Thrifty Supply Center doing creative ads and retail sales. Thrifty has identified her talent as being exceptional and one of the next new Anime artists. Combining her intrinsic love for Anime and Manga and a post-apocalyptic outlook, her illustrations capture both the futuristic and ancient in incredible detail. Being brought up in both an Eastern and Western heritage, her knowlege of written and spoken Chinese as well as English, her cultural influences have allowed her to navigate in the best of both worlds.

Thrifty History

Thrifty Supply Center on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard at Charlton Street is the most convenient, fast and friendly, neighborhood hardware store in Savannah, GA. In its 100 year existence,Thrifty Supply Center has been highlighted in movies and films and the news for it's historic significance. The building at one time was a 5 & 10 Cent Store under the the management of the Tenenbaum's.

Currently owned by Tony and Carol Chen, their store continues the legacy of the Historic District, maintaining it's service to it's faithful customers, Savannah's hard working contractors, artists and neighborhood builders.
